Dr. Jason Adams’ Listening Tour
Dr. Adams’ Listening Tour gives the people of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD a chance to share their thoughts on the district, their schools, and their experiences in GCISD. The students we serve, the teachers and staff who make excellence possible, the families who trust us and the community who supports us all deserve to have their voices heard.
This feedback will help shape Dr. Adams’ and the GCISD leadership team’s short- and long-term priorities.

Why a Listening Tour?
Dr. Jason Adams is starting his first year as GCISD’s Superintendent, and he’s launching his leadership initiative by listening first to learn more about GCISD.
As he gets to know the students, staff, and families who make up GCISD, his focus is simple. Dr. Adams wants to understand what’s working, what’s not, and where the district can become even stronger, all with a focus on helping every student reach excellence for life.
Listening for Learning
GCISD is a high-performing A-rated, destination district with a reputation for strong academics and numerous opportunities for students and families. However, like many districts across the state, GCISD is also facing real challenges because of Texas school financing, downward enrollment trends and more.
The district maintains significant strengths, but also presents additional opportunities to improve. Decisions made by the district’s leadership affect us all, therefore the discussion before these decisions should include us all. GCISD has plans to hear from students, staff, families, taxpayers and community leaders with a desire to see GCISD be the best school district it can be.
To Dr. Adams, “listening means being visible, accessible and intentional about understanding the perspectives of GCISD’s people.”

Excellence for Life
GCISD believes every student should be challenged and motivated to achieve excellence – not only during their time in our schools, but throughout their lives. Through the Listening Tour, Dr. Adams and the GCISD leadership team will be listening with an intent to learn, and an intent to build.
To Dr. Adams, “building means using what we learn together to strengthen trust, align priorities, and advance student outcomes.”
In order to turn feedback into meaningful action, each session will center around three straightforward questions:
What should GCISD continue doing?
Celebrating and protecting the strengths, traditions and programs that make GCISD exceptional.
What should GCISD stop doing?
Identifying practices, policies or inefficiencies that no longer serve our students, staff or communities well.
What should GCISD start doing?
Uncovering fresh ideas and opportunities to innovate, adapt and better prepare our students for the future.
By focusing on these three prompts, listening sessions will directly shape the short- and long-term actions needed to deliver excellence for life.
Get to Know Dr. Adams
Strengthening Trust and Transparency
Dr. Jason Adams was appointed Superintendent of GCISD in June 2026, bringing 28 years of experience in public education and a proven record of academic excellence, innovation and strategic leadership.

An Experienced Educator
Before joining GCISD, Dr, Adams served as Deputy Superintendent in Garland ISD, where he led districtwide academic strategy and school improvement efforts that strengthened teaching and learning and contributed to some of the highest College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) outcomes in North Texas, while improving the district’s financial position amid enrollment decline and financial constraints.
Dr. Adams began his teaching career in Garland ISD, and later taught in Chicago Public Schools before returning to GISD, where he built a strong foundation in student-centered instruction and academic growth.
Throughout his career, he has also served as assistant principal and principal at Beaver Technology Center, a nationally recognized STEM magnet campus known for innovation, project-based learning and sustained academic growth.
His leadership earned multiple distinctions, including National Title I recognition and designation as an Apple Distinguished School. He later transitioned to central office administration as Executive Director of Leadership, supporting principals across a diverse network of campuses and leading school improvement efforts.
Through his nearly three decades in public education, Dr. Adams knows there is nothing more important than student experience and voice and nothing more valuable than energized, motivated staff who support the direction of the district. That is why his listening tour will seek to truly understand how district decisions are impacting instruction in the classroom.
Outside the Classroom
Dr. Adams earned a Bachelor of Education from Illinois State University, a Master of Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from The University of Texas at Austin.
He and his wife, Alandra, a dyslexia therapist in a public school, are the proud parents of two sons – Ian, a sophomore at Texas State University, and Lucas, a freshman at The University of Oklahoma.
Building Strong Relationships
Early in his career, Dr. Adams developed a deep understanding of the importance of strong relationships. As he seeks to learn more about GCISD, he remains focused on supporting classroom teachers and leading campus principals, strengthening Board and community relations, while improving teaching and learning to ensure strong outcomes for every student.

Gold Card Luncheon
Dr. Adams shared about GCISD’s standard of excellence at the district’s Gold Card meeting, a program for residents who are 65 years or older.
Chambers of Commerce
Dr. Adams was the keynote speaker at the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce luncheon. His message celebrated the dedication found across GCISD and the community partnerships that prepare our students for their future.
Welcome Back, GCISD!
The first day of school was filled with smiles and high-fives as Dr. Adams visited with excited students, staff and families across the district.
Start of a Great Day
Many students’ school day starts with a warm greeting from a bus driver. On the first day of school, Dr. Adams and the GCISD transportation team were all smiles.
Staff Convocation
Many staff members heard from Dr. Adams for the first time at GCISD’s “Game On!” staff convocation. His message celebrated the district’s tradition of excellence and motivated staff for the upcoming school year.
Leadership Day
Dr. Adams helped set the foundation of the school year when campus and district leaders came together at GCISD’s annual Leadership Day in July.
